Human triggered avalanches are unlikely today. Firm surfaces, warm weather, and a settling snowpack will continue to keep danger low. If going into the backcountry, look for signs of instability on steep southerly terrain features. Above treeline, be prepared for very firm surface conditions, strong northerly winds, and bitterly cold windchill values. 

Normal caution

Normal caution should be taken today. Natural and human triggered avalanches are unlikely, however, unlikely does not mean it can't happen. Strong winds above treeline still bring the potential for moving snow around. If you choose to go above treeline, assess leeward slopes for wind transport. Ensure that all group members are carrying and properly using companion rescue equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe).

It's a holiday weekend, and we're expecting perhaps a few climbers. We can't stress the slip, fall and slide for life danger enough. With firm conditions on the upper mountain, a long sliding fall could be fatal. Carry an ice axe, crampons and helmet. Be sure to continually assess climbing conditions and know your limits. Wind chill values are also expected to be exceptionally low above treeline. Periodically check your partner(s) for cold injuries and frostbite. Castle Lake road is still closed at the gate.
