Forecast Snow Stability: As the freezing level rises above the summits most of the recent new snow falls will thaw and dissipate as rain and strong winds affect the area. New snow will arrive in the afternoon, these new accumulations are not expected to be deep or extensive. Greatest deposits will be on North-East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Thursday evening, mostly dry with strong West to North-West summit winds the freezing level around 300 metres with mainly dry conditions. Early Friday morning winds will back, becoming South-Westerly strengthening to gale force. The freezing level will rise to around 1200 metres with rain at all levels. In the afternoon winds will ease to Westerly with rain turning to snow mainly above 950 metres. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing levels lowered late yesterday afternoon and fell to around 450 metres, the rain turned to snow showers at higher elevations. New snow accumulations are generally quite light and fell to around 360 metres particularly at the more Easterly end of Glencoe. West-North-Westerly winds were strong at first but eased through the day. Midday temperatures at 1000 metres were minus 4 degrees celsius. ObservedSnowStability: Strong winds and new snow have affected the area, snow falling mainly above 400 metres. These new accumulations are generally not deep with the greatest deposits on North-East to South-Easterly aspects above 900 metres. Most of the new snow lies on bare ground and is shallow and stable. The old patches of snow are firm and icy. Some small cornice lips have started to develop above similar aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
