CM for 06/02/22 New snow instabilities, windslab deposits above 800m on NE through E to SE aspects. Avalanche Hazard Considerable.

Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations will be on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Below 800 metres, localised unstable windslab will also accumulate in wind sheltered locations. Fragile cornices will continue to build above the same aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be a return to cooler conditions with the Freeing Level lowering to around 200 metres accompanied by snow showers throughout the forecast period. The strong West-South-West air flow will persist, becoming West, then West-North-West by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level has fluctuated with wintry snow showers overnight. These persisted for much of the day, with rain below 700 metres. Cooler conditions are beginning to affect the area towards the end of the day with snow falling once again to lower levels below 700 metres. The winds have been strong mostly West-South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: New snow instabilities with areas of unstable windslab exist above 800 metres. The areas affected are steep corrie rims, headwalls, gully tops, and high wind sheltered locations on North East through East to South East aspects. Below 700 metres the recent accumulations have consolidated rapidly and although now wet, are stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
