Forecast Snow Stability: A period of poor stability and cornice collapse on steep North through East to South-East aspects above 900m on Monday evening. Better consolidated snow soon after in all locations and altitudes with the onset of colder conditions. New moderately bonded windslab development expected during Tuesday on North through East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. New accumulations are expected to be limited to gully tops and coire rims. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Mild with some rain before midnight then suddenly much cooler with snow showers for the remainder of the period. A strong West-South-Westerly airflow throughout. Observed Weather Influences: Generally dry and cold overnight then steadily milder with some rain, heavier much later. Freezing level above summits by noon. Moderate South-West winds increased to strong later. ObservedSnowStability: Upper layers of snowpack in transition from cold and dry to moist after milder conditions and rain. Poorer stability, particularly on steep North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres, with the onset of heavier rain late in the period. Recent cornice debris noted below some very steep North-East to East aspects. Snow on less steep ground and at lower altitudes showed some early consolidation. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
