Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where you find more than about a foot of snow from March. Even a small avalanche in the upper snowpack could step down into a weak layer buried about three feet deep. The most problematic slopes face an easterly direction around more open slopes below ridgelines, gullies, or convex rollovers. If you see fresh cornices, cracking, or recent avalanches, it is time to move to wind-sheltered slopes or slopes less than about 30 degrees for safer options.
