Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger avalanches on steep northerly and easterly-facing slopes. These will be larger where southwest winds drift the snow. Early in the day, some avalanches in wind-sheltered terrain may behave like loose avalanches. Later, as the storm snow settles above weak old-snow surfaces, expect avalanches to run as slabs, with the potential to trigger from a distance. Seek out southerly-facing slopes that held well-developed, supportive crusts prior to the storm to enjoy the new snow.
