The most dangerous slopes are those with clean white snow receiving direct sunlight. In steep terrain, you may be able to trigger a large avalanche in deeper drifts. You could also trigger a small slab in cold, dry, pillowy snow at the highest elevations. Small avalanches in steep terrain can have large consequences. Start and end your day early and follow the shade to reduce your hazard.
