Look for and avoid areas of firm, drifted snow on shady, high-elevation slopes. In these areas, snow may overlay old firm or weak snow. If you find snow that is supportive and hollow or that cracks beneath your weight, you could trigger a small avalanche. Safer travel can be found on soft, unconsolidated snow or dry ground.
Join the Friends of CAIC on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center for the 18th annual CAIC Benefit Bash - the season's biggest fundraiser for avalanche safety. Tickets are available here <https://breckcreate.org/events/caic-benefit-bash>
