Watch for an increasing avalanche danger through the weekend as more storm snow loads the weak Feb 22 surface hoar layer.
5cm more storm snow expected this morning accompanied by moderate W wind then cloudy with a chance of flurries for the afternoon. Freezing levels rising to 1100m. Another 10cm of snow expected through the day on Sunday with SW winds light gusting to strong. Increasing avalanche danger through the weekend.
15cm+ storm snow has now buried the February 22 surface hoar layer. This layer is widespread accept on steep solar aspects where sun crust has formed. On shaded slopes expect 30cm of soft snow over a well settled mid-pack. Storm snow hides variable stubborn wind slab in exposed alpine elevations along ridge-tops and exposed tree-line features.
Three avalanches to size 2 observed in the highway corridor. MCR report of natural triggered windslab to size 2 out of the Asulkan Hut area from the last couple of days.
