Avalanche danger is low, but hard, icy surfaces and numerous early-season hazards may make travel challenging.
No recent avalanches have been reported. However, observations are extremely limited in this area.
If you're heading out into the backcountry, please consider sharing your observations on the MIN.
Between 50 to 150 mm of rain has fallen across the region in the last storm cycle, which has continued to saturate and melt the snowpack.
Only the highest alpine elevations likely saw snow instead of rain, and may hold lingering wind slabs on leeward and cross-loaded slopes. If found, these slabs should be assessed carefully before committing to steep terrain.
Otherwise, a widespread hard crust is expected to be capping the snow surface.
Treeline areas currently hold an estimated 20 to 50 cm of snow, which diminishes rapidly below 1500 m.
