Watch for signs that you could trigger an avalanche, like cracks shooting through the snow, or stiff, textured snow surfaces. Avoid wind loaded start zones, or slopes leading into gullies, cliffs, or other terrain traps.
Winds on Sunday morning quickly built fresh wind slabs.
Near treeline, expect small, but reactive wind slabs on lee slopes. Even small slides can be dangerous--pushing you into rocks, trees and open creeks.
Above treeline, wind slabs are becoming thicker and more dense. Wind loading has been constant for several days now. These slabs may be stubborn, but have the potential to be large and dangerous. Avoid lee slopes and with start zones above 35 degrees and wind loaded unsupported slopes.
