Wind slabs represent the main danger.
The wind slabs of last week represent the main danger. As a consequence of new snow and strong wind the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent. They can be released very easily. These have formed especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Avalanches can be triggered in the old snowpack reach large size in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Snow sport activities outside marked and open pistes call for experience and great restraint.
The small quantity of fresh snow of the last few days and in particular the wind slabs formed by the strong wind are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes. Avalanches can in some places be released in deep layers in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes.
