Avalanche Activity

The fresh snow and the sometimes deep wind slabs represent the main danger.

The fresh wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above approximately 2500 m. As a consequence of the precipitation medium-sized wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2500 m.

Snowpack Structure

The sleet will give rise as the day progresses to rapid and thorough wetting of the old snowpack below approximately 2500 m. The fresh wind slabs are difficult even for the trained eye to recognise and to be assessed with care and prudence.
