New snow represents the main danger.

Down to 1800 m snow will fall until Friday over a wide area. In some localities 50 to 70 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall above approximately 2500 m. With the onset of the snowfall, the natural avalanche activity will gradually increase. In particular on steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size. Exposed parts of transportation routes can be endangered occasionally in particular above approximately 1800 m. The current avalanche situation calls for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger. Significant increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the new snow. In all aspects a considerable avalanche danger will prevail. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided as far as possible.

The old snowpack is wet and its surface has a crust that is not capable of bearing a load. The new snow will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack on shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. The new snow can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above the tree line. Avalanches can be released in deeper layers also.

Some snow will fall on Friday. Considerable avalanche danger will prevail.
