Anticipate windslabs in open areas on all aspects. If more snow falls than forecasted, slabs will be easier to trigger.
Natural avalanche activity has tapered off from the last storm and only a few isolated avalanches were observed through the highway corridor. However, skier triggered avalanches are still a possibility.
Wind effect in the alpine & treeline elevation sits on a suncrust on solar aspects. Settled storm snow exists in sheltered locations.
The deep persistent weakness near the base of the snowpack consists of facets and a decomposing crust in some locations.
Temperatures will gradually rise into the weekend and 14cm is forecast for Saturday afternoon and into Sunday. Winds are forecast to be moderate from the SW and a Alpine high of -12*C.
