Forecast Snow Stability: New shallow snow cover above 750 metres initially, with generally avoidable pockets of windslab building in wind sheltered locations, North to North-East aspects, largely above 850 metres. The limited and patchy existing wet snow will refreeze during the day, becoming firm, particularly at higher summit levels. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain at all levels overnight will turn wintry by dawn, with fresh snow expected above 750 metres, most persistent in the morning. The generally Southerly wind will gradually strengthen, becoming gale force for a time around midday. The freezing level will lower to around 750 metres by mid morning, rising to 900 metres by the end of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: Early rain at all levels eased into showers by mid morning, followed by sunny spells. It was again unseasonably mild with the freezing level well above the highest tops. Fresh to strong South-West wind moderated through the day. ObservedSnowStability: There has been a further depletion of the thawing, wet snow cover, which is reduced to stable and consolidated patches and slivers of older snow, mostly above 800 metres. Little to no snow remains below 600 metres with many hillsides and summits bare. The avalanche hazard is Low.
