Highlights

The fresh snow of the weekend as well as the mostly small wind slabs to be found in all aspects represent the main danger. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. On steep slopes and on wind-loaded slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible.

Avalanche Activity

The fresh snow of the weekend as well as the mostly small wind slabs to be found in all aspects represent the main danger. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. On steep slopes and on wind-loaded slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible.

The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. In particular at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. As a consequence of solar radiation avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they will be mostly small. In particular on steep shady slopes avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack.

Snowpack Structure

In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on an icy crust. 10 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen. In particular on steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in all aspects.
