Wet-snow / glide-snow avalanches at intermediate altitudes, fresh drifts at high altitudes

Avalanche danger is moderate. Main danger: wet snow. On very steep slopes which have not yet discharged, small-to-medium sized loose-snow avalanches can trigger naturally. On steep slopes where the ground is smooth, in addition, small-to-medium sized wet glide-snow avalanches are possible. Avalanches can reach medium size. At high altitudes, fresh snowdrifts can be a risk. One single person can trigger ridgeline avalanches on N/E/S facing slopes and in wind-loaded gullies and bowls, most small-sized. The risks of taking a fall outweigh those of being buried in snow masses.

Temperatures are receding somewhat, but the snowapc is still thoroughly wet down to the ground at intermediate altitudes. At high altitudes, snowfall accompanied by strong winds is expected. Small snowdrift patches are unlikely to trigger. Below 1400m, also on shady slopes, there is hardly any snow on the ground.

As a result of precipitation and lower temperatures, the wet-snow problem will recede at the start of next week, the fresh-snow / snowdrift problem will come to the forefront.
