Forecast Snow Stability: The majority of snow will be well bonded and stable. Localised accumulations of moderately bonded snow will be found in wind sheltered locations on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 1050 metres. These deposits will mostly be encountered on the higher mountains along the Northern boundary of the forecast area. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Light overnight precipitation falling as snow above 1050 metres, followed by a mainly dry day. Moderate Southerly winds overnight, gradually veering West-North-West during the day. Freezing level 1100 metres initially, falling to 700 metres by the end of the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: No precipitation fell during the observation period but new overnight snow was present above 600 metres. Winds were moderate to strong South-South-Easterly. The freezing level was around 950 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Patchy cover with new, wet snow above 600 metres. Above 1000 metres on South-West through West to North aspects, localised accumulations of moderately bonded snow are present. Deepest amounts are to be found in wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and around steep corrie rims. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
