Forecast Snow Stability: Surface layers of the remaining patchy snow will become firm and icy as the freezing level lowers during the day. Shallow and inconsequential accumulations of windslab will form in very wind sheltered locations only on generally East to South aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Light rain or drizzle overnight will turn to sleet and then light snow showers just after daybreak. These showers will be driven on by storm force Westerly winds, gradually easing to gale force North-Westerlies. Mild overnight, becoming cooler during daylight hours with the freezing level lowering to around 600 metres by midday. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day, with the cloud above the summits during the morning, lowering onto the highest summits during the afternoon. Very strong West-South-Westerly winds. Freezing level around 900 metres initially, rising to 1000 metres after midday. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snow remains well bonded and stable. Very little snow is present below 800 metres with largest areas being encountered on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Wind sheltered locations such as corrie head walls, gullies and steep burn lines are holding greatest amounts. The avalanche hazard is Low.
