Regions: Glacier.
With rising freezing levels and more rain in the forecast expect moist snow to approximately 2000m. The moist surface will be easily triggered, and avalanches will gain mass on steep slopes.
Avalanche Problems
Loose Wet
Rain has saturated and weakened the snowpack below approx 2000m. Rain has been triggering avalanches that gain mass on steep terrain running into runouts below treeline. Expect avalanche activity to increase during periods of rain.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
Likelihood: Possible - Likely
Expected Size: 1 - 3
Storm Slabs
Snow started falling at Mt Fidelity on Oct 16. Since then the station has received 130cm of snow which has settled to an HS of 62cm. If you manage to get above freezing level (~2100m?) watch for storm snow and windslab instabilites.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: Alpine.
Likelihood: Possible
Expected Size: 1 - 2
