Wind slabs and wet snow are to be critically assessed.
5 to 20 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1800 m. The small quantity of fresh snow of the weekend and the wind slabs to be found in particular above approximately 2000 m are to be evaluated with care and prudence. The somewhat older wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, on steep shady slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. This applies in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses, in particular medium-sized ones.
Above approximately 900 m snow has fallen. In particular low and intermediate altitudes, steep sunny slopes: The new snow is lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: In some cases new snow is lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack. In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.
The weather conditions will give rise to increasing consolidation of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.
