Avalanche Activity

The weather will be mild over a wide area. As the moisture increases the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.

As the day progresses in particular on sunny slopes there will be a gradual increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches. Gliding avalanches can also occur. As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of avalanches being released will increase also on steep north facing slopes above approximately 1800 m. Some medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible. This applies in particular in case of a large load. Backcountry tours should be concluded early.

Snowpack Structure

The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. The new snow of recent weeks is loosely bonded on shady slopes above approximately 1800 m. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

Tendency

The weather will be mild. Over a wide area a mostly overcast night.
