Regions

Glacier.

Conditions look good for big objectives. Be sure to leave plenty of time to get down safely with challenging skiing below treeline and limited daylight hours.

Weather Forecast

The temperature inversion remains in place for one more day, with clear skies above the valley cloud and above freezing temps in the alpine. No precipitation is expected today with light SW winds. A cold front arrives tonight delivering 5cm of new snow and dropping freezing levels. More precipitation is expected on Sunday with 15cm by Monday.

Snowpack Summary

Variable surface conditions exist: widespread surface hoar at treeline, crust on solar aspects, wind-pressed snow in the alpine, and settled power on shaded aspects. The height of snow is near average at tree line and above, while below treeline is still below normal. The late November crusts are found down 50-70cms and are currently bonding well.

Avalanche Summary

3 small size 1.5 natural avalanches were observed in the highway corridor from steep, high elevation, south facing paths.
