Highlights

 Generally safe avalanche conditions exist in the forecast area. However, it is still possible to find unstable wet surface snow. Pockets of wet snow that have been warmed by the sun and  lower elevations areas where a poor re freeze has occurred, should be noted as potential areas that may be unstable.  Be mindful when traveling during the heat of the day,  especially on steep solar aspects or near rocky cliff bands that can collect heat and amplify the sun's effect on the snow.

    The weather forecast today calls for calm winds and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark at 10,000 feet  The firm surface conditions at the start of the day will eventually soften due to warming temperatures, poor overnight refreezes and  increased solar input from long spring days. This will be enough to create small isolated areas of unstable wet surface snow.   Surface instabilities may not be enough to bury a person but can create conditions where a skier or rider are knocked off their intended course.  Be mindful If you start to see roller balls, deep ski/ boot pen,  as these are signs that the sun's input on the snowpack is weakening the  bonds and can create surface instability. If you are in consequential terrain or cannot arrest a fall,  even the smallest wet loose avalanche can create dangerous situations.

    Spring time can bring a plethora of conditions, today is a good day to bing the sharps kit and be ready for a variety of travel conditions. Use Aspect, elevation, and time of day to your advantage as you move through terrain today.
