Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a small avalanche where you find about a foot or more of recently wind-drifted snow. Watch for cracking in the snow or a stiff, hollow feeling to the new snow, warning you are on a wind-drifted slope. If you are traveling in consequential terrain, keep in mind that even a small avalanche can be dangerous if it takes you for a ride off a cliff or through rocks.
