Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger a large and destructive avalanche on most slopes that face west through north to southeast. You can trigger them from long distances away, so be aware of steep slopes above you and other parties near you. You will likely experience obvious signs of instability, such as cracking and collapsing, to warn you of this danger, but if you don't see these signs, it does not mean it is safe. The easiest way to avoid being caught in one of these likely unsurvivable avalanches is to avoid traveling on or underneath slopes steeper than about 30 degrees on aspects of concern.
