Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep wind-drifted slopes, especially those that face the north half of the compass. These wind-drifted slopes can be identified by harder-feeling, supportable snow. The slopes where harder slabs sit over collapsible weak layers are often located directly below ridgetop and in steep above treeline gullies.
