Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche in drifted snow. Avalanches that break in recently drifted snow can step down to deeper layers. Watch out for drifts in unusual places due to the strong winds. Shooting cracks and audible collapses are signs of instability, but you might not see any before you trigger a slide.

Look for sheltered slopes without a slab as safer options.
