Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are scoured or have a thin, weathered snow cover and are safe from avalanches. If you find a rare spot with a deeper, hollow-sounding drift, below a ridge or wind-loaded feature, look at the slope below and consider the consequences of getting caught in a small avalanche. Maybe just go around that spot.
