Avalanche Summary

You can trigger avalanches on north through east-facing slopes at upper elevations. Look for and avoid areas of freshly drifted snow, especially near ridgelines, gullies, and concave slopes with continuous snow. Stick to slopes less than about 30 degrees for safer travel options, especially if you find lens-shaped pillows of snow that feel thick, crack or collapse underfoot. Give yourself a wide berth of suspect slopes, as even a small avalanche can take you for a nasty ride.
