Westerly winds have formed pockets of wind slab up to 14 inches deep along the leeward aspects of the highest ridge lines. These surface slabs could be human triggered in steep wind loaded avalanche starting zones. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations.

On Friday it will be dry with warmer temperatures and decreasing winds. Temperatures will become inverted. Overnight temperatures will drop to 10 to 20 below in the valleys and only into the single digits below zero at the higher elevations. Daytime highs on Friday will rise into the teens. Winds will back to the southwest. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. At the upper elevations low hazard does not mean no hazard. West winds have formed isolated pockets of wind slab up to a foot deep on leeward aspects. Humans who venture into steep avalanche starting zones could trigger these slabs. Avalanches are unlikely in the shallow snowpack below an elevation of 8,000 feet.
