Your chance of triggering an avalanche is slowly decreasing, but the consequences could be severe. If you find a shallow spot on a slope around rock bands, or further down the path where the slab thins out, the entire slope could come down on top of you. Near and above treeline on the shady half of the compass are the most likely places to find this problem. Avoiding steep wind-drifted slopes and sticking to lower-angle terrain will help reduce your risk.
