New snow and wind elevate the avalanche hazard near and above treeline on Sunday. Avalanche danger is directly correlated to how much new snow falls. The most dangerous areas will be where you find new snow drifted into cohesive slabs more than a foot thick on steep slopes in the alpine. Be on the lookout for these drifts below ridgelines on leeward slopes and in steep, rocky, cross-loaded couloirs.
Safer travel can be found in wind-sheltered areas and on lower-angled slopes.
