Avalanche Summary

You can trigger large and dangerous avalanches on steep slopes. Avalanches can break deep into the old snow and can break wider and run farther than you expect. Cracking or collapsing in the snow may not be apparent before an avalanche surrounds you. You may trigger one of these avalanches from a distance or from below. Slopes less than about 30 degrees that are not connected to larger terrain offer safer travel.
