The fresh wind slabs represent the main danger.
Strong northerly wind. The fresh wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. During the second half of the night they will increase in size additionally. They can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant,. Small and medium-sized natural avalanches are possible. Several medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large dry and wet avalanches have been released on Monday. On very steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches were released.
Some snow will fall until the early morning. Over a wide area 30 to 40 cm of snow fell on Sunday above approximately 1500 m. The southeasterly wind has transported some snow. The snowpack is favourably layered, in particular on shady slopes. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the night, in particular on sunny slopes.
The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
