Avalanche Activity

On Sunday the wind will be moderate to strong. Wind slabs require caution.

Since yesterday the wind has been moderate to strong. In gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain the wind slabs will increase in size additionally. Fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. Medium-sized and large dry avalanches are to be expected. The fresh snow of the last two days as well as the deep wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence above approximately 2200 m.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area over a wide area 30 to 50 cm of snow has fallen since Monday. In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack on wind-loaded slopes.
