New snow and wind slabs represent the main danger, especially at high altitude.

10 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Monday above approximately 2500 m. The sleet gave rise to moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2500 m. As a consequence of falling temperatures a crust will form on the surface. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack in high Alpine regions. Snow depths vary greatly at intermediate and high altitudes, depending on the infuence of the wind.

As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural avalanche activity will gradually decrease.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from northwesterly directions, sometimes deep wind slabs formed at elevated altitudes. These can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on north to east to south facing aspects above approximately 2500 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are more widespread. Gradual decrease in danger of moist avalanches as the temperature drops.
