Highlights

Low avalanche danger will prevail.

Avalanche Activity

Low avalanche danger will prevail.

The older wind slabs can be released in isolated cases on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes, especially at their margins. The avalanche prone locations are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. Wind slabs are to be avoided especially in terrain where there is a danger of falling. On very steep grassy slopes individual small gliding avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

In all altitude zones a little snow is lying. The snowpack will be moist at low and intermediate altitudes. The snowpack will be weakly bonded at high altitude.

Tendency

Over a wide area up to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until midday. As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind, avalanche prone wind slabs will form. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain above the tree line, in isolated cases also in areas close to the tree line.
