Avalanche Activity

The weather will be exceptionally warm. Backcountry tours should be concluded early.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The wind slabs remain for the foreseeable future prone to triggering. Gliding avalanches can also occur. In all regions large and, in isolated cases, very large avalanches are possible. Avalanches can be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring calls for great caution and restraint.

Snowpack Structure

Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise to thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area. The snowpack will become gradually wet all the way through.

Tendency

Over a wide area precipitation.
