The snowpack is generally stable at this point.
The average person traveling around the backcountry today has very little threat of triggering an avalanche. People who are pushing into very steep upper elevation terrain may still be able to trigger a lingering wind slab on a north through east facing slope. The chances for that are slim but keep it in mind and think about consequences if you get caught in even a small slide.
Current Conditions: Temperatures got into the mid 30s on Monday and dropped into the mid 20s overnight. There has been a moderate breeze from the west over the last 24 hours but it has slowed again this morning.
Mountain Weather: Anticipate increasing clouds with the chance for light snowfall this afternoon. High temperatures will be around 30˚F and the wind should remain fairly light from the southwest. We should see a decent period of snowfall tonight and I'm anticipating 4 to 8 inches of new snow by mid day Wednesday. Models predict another round of snow Thursday into Friday however I'm very suspicious of how much we'll get because the flow is going to be from the northeast and east and this direction rarely produces much snow on the Skyline.
