Highlights

The avalanche danger rating is MODERATE today on the Skyline.

Human triggered avalanches are possible but are becoming less likely.

The most likely places to find trouble are on very steep slopes in the mid and upper elevations that face northwest through southeast.

    The upper layers of the snowpack should be adjusting and stabilizing. It will be harder to crack out an avalanche today. Don't let your guard down though. Continue to hit test slopes to see if you can initiate any cracking. Avoid very steep slopes where the wind has drifted and deposited snow. For the most part, you can travel around without much concern about triggering an avalanche today. Remember that if you're looking for trouble, you can probably find it on the steepest most radical terrain.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: Riding conditions remain quite good. The wind has been pretty light from the west southwest with moderate speeds along the higher ridges. Temperatures have been in the low to mid 20s over the last 24 hours. There is light snowfall this morning with no new accumulation.

Mountain Weather: We'll have cloudy skies today with light snowfall. Accumulations won't be much more than a trace to a couple of inches. Temperatures should remain in the low to mid 20s. Ridgetop wind gusts might increase just a bit but overall we should have light wind speeds from the southwest. We should see periods of snow through the weekend. By Monday, all these impulses could add up to a foot of snow.
