Forecast Snow Stability: Accumulations of fresh unstable windslab will continue to develop affecting wind sheltered locations such as gullies and coire rims. Most affected will be North to East aspects above 800 metres. Stability will decrease late morning with a rapid rise in temperatures and the onset of rain. North-West and South-East aspects will also be affected. Cornices above all these aspects will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers initially falling as snow above 300 metres turning to rain at most levels as the freezing level rapidly rises towards the end of morning. Strong mainly South-Westely winds overnight will back South-Easterly by morning. The freezing level will rise to around 1100 metres late morning. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers throughout the day on very strong West-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 300 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Accumulations of fresh unstable windslab are rapidly developing and gaining depth in wind sheltered locations such as gullies and coire rims. North-East to East aspects above 800 metres are most affected, with more localised accumulations on North and South-East aspects. Fragile cornices are developing above all these aspects. At lower elevations there is a covering of soft but stable snow. The avalanche hazard is Considerable
