A stiff west wind and light snowfall this morning may combine to form thin wind slabs. These fresh drifts may be touchy where they overlie hard, wind-polished surfaces or crusts. You're most likely to encounter this problem at upper elevations. Watch for smooth pillows of stiff or hard snow, dunes, or wave-like patterns on the surface. While these slabs are likely to be quite small, I'd still pay attention in very steep, recently wind-loaded, upper elevation terrain.
Additional Discussion: On Tuesday, I checked out an avalanche that failed on an east-facing slope near 8800' on Copper Mountain (photo, observation). Limited direct observations of this layer suggest that it's not likely an issue in the near term. That said, it's worth taking the time to dig a quick pit to see how recent snow is bonding to the older snow below.
Triggering a 4-6 foot thick persistent slab avalanche has become very unlikely. It would take a dose of very bad luck, but it may be possible to trigger one of these monsters in very steep (over 35 degrees), wind-swept, alpine terrain.
