Moderate ridgetop winds have redistributed fresh new snow onto steep, leeward terrain. Drifts will be larger, more widespread, and more sensitive where more snow fell, like in the Whitefish Range. Use small slopes and hand pits to test rounded, textured slabs before committing to a steep line. Shooting cracks below ridgelines and on the downwind sides of gullies and rollovers are warning signs that drifts are still sensitive.
