Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will generally have good stability throughout, with surface softening occurring, particularly at lower elevations. Existing isolated areas of moderately bonded windslab will have a brief period of wet snow instability before becoming more consolidated through the day. Affected locations will be steep North-East through East to South aspects mainly above 700 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, a band of light rain with summit sleet at times will ease by daybreak to give a generally dry and overcast day. There will be a persistent South-South-West gale force wind throughout the forecast period. The freezing level will generally be above, or at the highest summit level. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and bright start to the day with plenty of sunshine and light winds. Clouding over by midday, and a strengthening Southerly wind. The freezing level was around 700 metres late morning. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has generally good stability throughout, well bonded, firm and icy in places. However, pockets of moderately bonded windslab exist in steep locations on North-East through East to South aspects, mostly above 700 metres. These are generally shallow and avoidable. Previously wind exposed terrain is scoured. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
