Alpine snow heavily affected by strong northerly winds. Widespread variable depth hard wind slabs. The snow depth around Maligne lake is 15cm. The snow depth at the Parker Ridge study plot is 67cm with 3-10mm surface hoar on surface. There is a solar crust on steep slopes into alpine.
