Forecast Snow Stability: Significant drifting of the soft snowpack is expected in the strengthening winds. This will deposit areas of unstable windslab in sheltered locations on mainly South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Most affected will be the tops of slopes and gullies where avalanches are likely. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: After a dry night a few snow showers are expected during the day. Northerly winds will strengthen overnight and through the day. Temperatures will remain below freezing at all levels. Observed Weather Influences: After a cold night it was a clear and settled day. Winds were light. Temperatures were below freezing in all locations throughout. ObservedSnowStability: A relatively uniform layer of deep soft snow is found on all aspects. This is generally well bonded. A few minor instabilities exist on steep slopes and gully exits of all aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
