Wind slab
- Above 1,800 m
The wind slabs represent the main danger.
The wind slabs represent the main danger.
Some snow has fallen over a wide area. The wind has transported the new snow. As a consequence of wind, wind slabs formed in some places. Small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas above approximately 1800 m. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released in all aspects above approximately 1800 m.
In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with the old snowpack. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
The weather will be cold in all regions.
