Forecast Snow Stability: The older snow will be firm and well bonded. New accumulations will not achieve any significant depth over the majority of this area. But towards our Northern boundary snowfall is forecast to be significantly heavier with deeper unstable accumulations developing in wind sheltered locations. Gully tops and corrie rims on East, South-East and Southerly aspects above 900 metres will be most affected. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Becoming much cooler overnight with the freezing level dropping to 500 metres. Precipitation tuning to snow above this level. Winds veering to the North-West then the North-North-West for most of the day. Moderate becoming fresh in strength. Observed Weather Influences: A cloudy but dry day. A temperature of +5 degrees celsius was recorded at 920 metres. Moderate winds from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snow cover is thawing at all levels but remains well bonded. Greatest amounts of snow are found on North to East facing corries above 900m. The avalanche hazard is Low.
